MEDUSA
MEDUSA
music & lyrics by James Stryska book & lyrics by Annie Conolly An original musical retelling of the famous ancient Greek myth of the same name. The story of Medusa is often mis-told, what we know as a story of arrogance and boastfulness is actually a story that highlights the desperate measures someone will take to uphold their own sense of pride. This old tale of the infamous Gorgon sister delves into themes of transformation and its abrupt, yet natural, process. This adaptation is set in the final years of Black Mountain College in Asheville, North Carolina during the 1950s with characters loosely inspired by the great artists who attended its illustrious halls such as Susan Weil, Josef Albers, and John Cage. MEDUSA has been workshopped in New York, NY and Greensboro, NC. |
